Layang-Layang Island

Share your picture here

The island is 300km northwest away from Kota Kinabalu, the only way to get to this island is by charter flight. It is not cheap to get here but it will be worth it since it has one of the most beautiful marine life in the world, perfect for spot for scuba diving enthusiasts.Do not expect a green sandy tropical island when you arrived as it used to be an active naval based. There is only one resort at this island and the only things to do at Layang-Layang Island is eating, sleeping and diving.

Easily the biggest drawcard for this island, is the world famous and enthralling encounters with schools of scalloped hammerhead sharks in its surrounding waters. Being lucky enough to watch a big school of hammerheads glide by is an experience that will live with you for a very long time, and makes the whole journey worthwhile” Source: Dive-the-world.com

“The waters are unspoiled and unpolluted; there are no fishing activities and almost no other disturbances. The PADI dive centre is headed by certified instructors with a team of qualified dive masters. Packages are available from $1,250 (twin) per person for a 6D/5N trip; this includes accommodation, meals and multiple dives per day. Flight is $320/person, tax included, with 30kg baggage allowance” Source: Wonderfulmalaysia.com
