Likas Bay or more popular known as Tanjung Lipat Beach by the local is the most beautiful coastal drive in Kota Kinabalu, which is stretch from the city old port all the way to the Likas River where the state administration centre is located. Along the coast, there is a cycling and running track, beach, picnic and barbecuing facilities, public toilet, kids playgrounds and a food court. The beach and public area decided into two section so always go to the other end if the other one if crowded.
At the backdrop of the coastal drive is majestic Kota Kinabalu City Mosque and the peak of the Mount Kinabalu during good weather. Fishing is possible too at the other end of the bay that heads to the city and also wave surfing during the monsoon season, from Oct to Jan.
However swimming isn’t that so great due to it’s shallow water that you have to walk so far and not so clear as a result of two rivers that pumping water into the bay. The food court that serve mostly seafood at reasonable price is quite famous among the local too and it closes late at 2.00am
